About Memorization
Our program places equal focus on memorizing new sabaq and and doing revision/review of memorized Surahs and Juzz.
- We place great emphasis on revision once memorization is complete.
- The goal for every student is to recite 5 Juzz daily (with minimal mistakes) before leaving the program.
- The goal for accelerated students is to recite 10 Juzz a day (with minimal mistakes) before leaving the program.
Every student’s progress differs.
Ideally, the memorization of the Qur’an should be completed in 2 years, with one additional year required for intense revision.
Daily Student Routine
- Begin the day praying 2 Rakahs of Tahiyatul Masjid (when on-site).
- Recite the new Sabaq (newly memorized portion) from 8:00 am to 9:30 am to the teacher.
- Revise the Sabaq Juzz (all Surahs they have memorized thus far in the current Juzz) and recite the all or portions of the Juzz from 9:30 am to 12:20 pm to the teacher or to other students (as practice before reciting to the teacher).
- Lunch and recess 12:20 pm to 1:15 pm.
- Dhuhr prayer from 1:15 pm to 1:30 pm. Students are required to pray their Sunnah prayer before the Iqama is called.
- Pray Dhuhr in congregation at the Masjid, followed by remaining Sunnah prayers. Class resumes at 1:45 pm.
- After Dhuhr prayer, students revise all of the previous Juzz memorized, and recite to other students (who are on the same level or higher) or the teacher.
- Before leaving for the day, students begin memorizing their Sabaq for the next day.
- Dismissal at 3:30 pm.
Depending on the time of year, this daily schedule changes based on prayer timings for Asr and Maghrib.
Tips for Parents
- Students must memorize their daily Sabaq every night before going to sleep.
- Students should read/revise their Sabaq Juzz every night (before or after their Sabaq).
- Students should read/recite at least 1 previously memorized Juzz every night or after Fajr in the morning.
- Students should revise their new Sabaq after Fajr, and before class begins, as a preparation for reciting to the teacher.
